Lisa Paul AO PSM, FAICD, FAIM, FACEL, FIPAA.

Lisa has been on the AALD Board since 2016. Lisa was Secretary of Australian government departments 2004-2016. She is the longest-standing Secretary of Education. She worked for five Prime Ministers and nine Cabinet Ministers. Lisa has been a director of listed and non-listed companies, and many not-for-profits including Chairing headspace, the National Youth Mental Health Foundation and the Audit Committee of the Australian Academy of Science. She is a Counsellor of Bond University. She is Co-Chairing a Review of the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Lisa was first appointed Secretary of the Department of Education, Science and Training in 2004 by Prime Minister John Howard. She was reappointed Secretary of the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations by Prime Minister Rudd, and reappointed by Prime Ministers Julia Gillard, Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull.

Lisa left government in 2016 to ‘learn new things’ via a portfolio career.

Lisa was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 2011. In 2003, Lisa was awarded a Public Service Medal (PSM) for coordinating the Federal Government’s domestic response to the Bali bombings.
