Julie Singer Scanlan AO is Executive Co-Chair of the Australian American Leadership Dialogue. As Co-Founder of the Australian American Education Leadership Foundation (AAELF), she helped establish the leading private diplomatic initiative connecting Australian and American leaders across government, enterprise, space, media, education, and the community to review and refine the parameters of the bilateral relationship.

From 2019 to 2022, she led the AALD as CEO during the pandemic. Her governance roles include serving on the Board of the NY Global Leaders Dialogue (NYGLD) and holding membership with both the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and the International Women’s Forum (IWF). For more than a decade, she has also participated as a delegate in the Forbes International Women’s Summit.

Julie holds a dual degree in broadcast communications and psychology from the SI Newhouse School of Public Communications, Syracuse University, where she served on the Global Advisory Board.

Her career began in broadcast journalism as a news journalist, anchor, and documentary producer for ABC and NBC-affiliated stations in Pennsylvania and New York. In 1980, she was appointed Vice President of Hill and Knowlton in New York City, working across North America and Europe. Five years later, she became President of Broadcast Communications for Dorf and Stanton Communication, also in NYC.

Following her move to Sydney, Australia, Julie was appointed CEO of Australian Imagemakers, a leader in media and presentation training. In 2018, She was awarded an AO “Officer of the Order of Australia” for her distinguished service to Australia and America relations through the promotion and facilitation of dialogue and information exchange across government, business, and community sectors.
